The Ocean Literacy Institute is at its founding stage. Founding partners aren’t supporting an established program. They’re helping create one, and they’ll be part of the story of how it began.
Our first goal is to raise about $150,000 to prove the model in Year 1: publish the first editions of Move Toward the Shark, recruit our Founding Fellows, and run our first classroom pilot. The pilot will answer the questions that matter: Do students understand and remember? Can teachers use it easily? Can Fellows extend our reach? What does it cost per student? Can it scale?
Helps place books and classroom resources, or support an initial school program
Helps support a multi-school initiative or Education Fellow deployment
Helps launch a significant program, such as an edition of Move Toward the Shark or a multi-school pilot
Helps underwrite a major portion of book and curriculum development
Helps build, pilot, measure, and expand across multiple schools
Helps carry the Institute beyond the pilot, toward regional expansion
Fund something you can count: books for a district, a cohort of Education Fellows, or ocean career programs for a set number of students. We’ll report the results.
You have the knowledge; we have the path to students. Often, what we need is an hour of your time.
We report what we raise, what we spend, and what we learn, including what didn’t work. The Institute owns its books and curriculum; no for-profit company earns from them.
Thie Financial Sponsor will be updated after the fiscal sponsor agreement is signed: The Ocean Literacy Institute is a fiscally sponsored project of the Financial Sponsor, a 501(c)(3) organization. Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
