Become an Education Fellow

Education should continue to make a difference

Books on a shelf don’t create impact. People do. The Education Fellows Program brings together experienced educators, active and retired, with scientists and ocean professionals to build and deliver the Institute’s work. We build centrally; Fellows deliver locally.

Founding Education Fellows: Now Recruiting

We’re inviting 10–20 experienced educators to join our founding cohort. Founding Fellows help shape the first editions of Move Toward the Shark, support our first classroom pilot, and help define what students should know at each age.

Who We’re Looking For

Active and retired teachers, especially in science, English, and all grades; librarians; curriculum specialists; museum, aquarium, and outdoor educators; and education faculty. Others are encouraged to join too. Ocean expertise isn’t required. See the whitepaper.

For Retired Educators

Retirement doesn’t end a teacher’s influence. The Fellowship is designed to fit around a retired schedule, and to put decades of classroom experience to work for the next generation.

Later Cohorts

Education Fellows and Student Fellows (high school and college students) will open after the founding cohort is in place.
